PCB:Pakistan Cricket Board Selects A Foreign Head Coach

The hopes and dreams of those local coaches ,who were thinking that they will acquire the position of head coach in case of non-availability of a favourable coach ,were shattered by the selection of foreign coach Mickey Arthur . Preferring foreign experience,PCB has made a contract with former South African first class cricketer for two years,who will take charge at the end of this month.

Mickey's experiment of National coaching was a success.But his contract with Austalia ended unpleasantly.He also remains associated with Carribean and Bangladesh Premier league teams.He was the coach of Karachi Kings in PSL ( Pakistan Super League ) ,unfortunately, Karachi Kings was unable to qualify for the Play-Off round.

Mickey Arther played 110 first class matches and he has the experience of coaching two great teams of the world.He has the honour of coaching the South African team from 2005 to 2010.Under his coaching, the South African team attained the first rank in all the three formats of cricket.He was appointed as an Australian Coach in 2011.After the 4-0 defeat from India and poor performance of the Aussies , the pressure of removing him from his position was increased.After 19 months of the appointment,in June 2013 just before the two weeks from Ashes series,he was replaced by Darin Lee. Level four certified coach Mickey coached Carribean League team, Jamaica tallawahs in 2014 and Bangladesh Premier league team Dhaka Gladiators in 2015.

The Causes Behind Mickey Arthur Selection :

According to some details,the reasons which caused PCB to take this step was the bad performance of the cricket team in limited overs cricket.Chief selector Haroon Rashid was replaced by Inzamam-ul-Haq .

According to some news, PCB had made its mind earlier that it will select a foreign coach.Because of which former test cricketer, Aqib Javaid didn't even consider it important to apply for the position.Stuart law was also contacted but he showed interest in becoming a consultant.So now two Foreign coaches have left : Micky Arthur and England's Andy Moles .In this situation,where PCB was ,made the local coaches aspire and hope that they will procure the place.The Next Contender Andy Moles remained the coach of all the teams except New Zealand.These teams include Honk Kong,Kenya,Scot Land and Afghanistan.

In the press release of PCB, it is clearly mentioned that the appointment of the head coach took place transparently. A committee led by Wasim Akram,Ramiz Raja and Faisal Mirza analysed all the applicants and gave four final names.Chairman PCB Shahryar Khan after consulting with the board of governours and the committee members through phone, contacted Mickey Arthur,who gave his consent for coaching.Note that before Mickey,Bob Woolmer , Jef Losen, and Dev Whatmore has also worked in this position.
